As nonprofit organizations evolve in response to external pressures and internal life-cycle changes, leaders need to step back and understand the organization as an ecosystem of interconnected people, public and private entities, partners, programs, activities, and services. Together, we analyze what is working, what is not, and the factors behind both; then we co-create a sustainable path forward. When an organization needs deeper transformation, we help reconsider its mission, vision, baseline, assets, successful practices, and the forces driving change. We train your team in collaborative research and analysis so the process remains strong after our engagement.
We support nonprofits, community initiatives, coalitions, and other community stakeholders in understanding the needs of program participants, constituents, and residents. We can conduct the assessment with you and also train staff, volunteers, and community members to carry out needs assessments themselves. Together, we identify priorities, leverage existing community resources, culture, social capital, and resilience, and co-create sustainable plans grounded in the community’s own knowledge.
We believe the best research happens when stakeholders are active participants. Research questions grow from community needs, wants, and concerns; stakeholders learn to research their own reality, co-design instruments and methods, carry out the research, monitor the process, and collaboratively analyze the findings. We offer community-based participatory research and workshops in design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, using methods such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, case studies, and document and artifact analysis. Our goal is to prepare partners for long-term sustainability.
Food insecurity is a multidimensional human-rights challenge affecting communities in both poorer and wealthier societies. We conduct food-insecurity research and train teams and community members as co-researchers through a series of workshops to understand its causes, strengthen social capital, and improve quality of life.
Program Evaluation & Workshops
We evaluate whether programs are meeting their objectives and responding to changing environments. Our team conducts and teaches formative, summative, process, and outcome evaluation, helping organizations build an effective evaluation framework and decide when programs should be improved, redesigned, or concluded.
Our Guiding Principle
Transformation isn't something we do to your organization—it is something we build together through shared analysis and continuous dialogue.
